About
I am an Abstract Expressionistic painter interested in pattern, form and colour. I’m most comfortable painting large abstract landscapes using mixed media or acrylic on canvas.
I am an impatient painter and need to paint fast - that’s why I love acrylic paint.
The subject will almost always be abstract landscapes, but I’ve just completed a range of abstract flower paintings. I’m currently inspired by pattern - their shape and colour.
I’m not precious over my work and will paint over any canvas if I don’t like it or I can’t (for whatever reason) complete it.
Grew up in Windhoek, Namibia. Moved to Cape Town, South Africa to study Fine Art. Completed 3 of the 4 years when I was offered a graphic design position at Young and Rubicam.
Several years later before moving to Australia in the year 2000, I was the Creative Director of ‘The Agency’ in Cape Town, South Africa.
In Australia I continued to work in this industry and still do so today, albeit in a freelance/contract capacity.
The last ten years or so I have divided my time between painting and our pop up store, based on the South Coast of NSW.
- 2000 – Arrive in Australia
- 2002 – Design ‘Mountain Biking Australia’ Magazine
- – Contract Graphic Designer at Wollongong City Council. The best in-house marketing and design studio in Wollongong
- 2012 – Open a Savannah Cafe and Bar on the South Coast of NSW with my partner, Ersen. I continue to freelance as a Graphic Designer at University of Wollongong.
- 2020 – Open pop up store Savannah Trading Store and start painting - at last!
