About

Leonie in an intuitive artist, who paints without expectation and embraces the uncertainty. She likes to experiment. In the last 18 months she has developed a unique technique, resulting in relief collages. She is also looking at collage within a canvas painting process and oil with cold wax.

I am Currently living and painting in Werri Beach. My artist name is Leonie Scott (Leonie Simmons). My art making began through regular classes with Marion Schumacher, who introduced me to the fundamentals of painting. My work continued to develop through workshops, a Certificate III in art practice and lots of experimentation. Meeting Peter Griffen had a profound influence on my approach to painting. In addition, through my Early Childhood Education I accept the importance of kinetic and experimental experiences. Through art I have the motivation and drive to experiment and I am prepared to step outside my comfort zone to seek new techniques.
