About

I'm a decorative and art-video artist, book editor, author and publisher (not necessarily in that order). My decorative art mostly takes the form of hats and masks, my fiction is fantasy and magical realism, my expertise as an editor is in fiction and memoirs, and my publishing business (Alkira Publishing) publishes fiction, memoirs and biographies from authors all over the world.

Since 2023, I have been creating works in the new field of AI art video, in which I use AI tools to create animated art illustrating a story or visuals for music, using music composed by my husband Kris Newland. These videos combine my love of story (or poetry) with fantasy imagery and evocative music. My webbook Psychemagination: Journey into the Psyche (http://psychemagination.net) is a memoir illustrated with video art about my discovery, at the age of 68, that I was 2eAuDHD (a gifted autistic with ADHD). When I'm not editing or running my publishing business, I now spend more time creating art video than I do creating decorative pieces to sell in my Etsy store.

After starting my artistic life as a painter whilst training to be a teacher back in the mid seventies, I turned to dance and theatre as a career. I gained twenty years’ experience in scripting, costume and prop design, choreography, and performing in dance theatre, visual theatre and, most extensively, theatre in education. After that I taught high school creative and performing arts for several years, while creating masks and decorating hats for my Etsy store. Then I started a new career in writing, editing and publishing. I've had seven novels and three non-fictions books published, and have published over 70 books for other authors. In 2023, inspired by the discovery of my neurodivergence, my visual arts, writing and interest in mind combined to create the AI-art-video-illustrated webbook Psychemagination: Journey into the Psyche. Since then I've been experimenting further with the medium, creating a variety of short films exploring worlds of imagination. I've had extensive training in Buddhist meditation and philosophy, and I live in Foxground with a husband and a couple of cheeky Burmese cats,
