‘Jiemba’—contemporary Aboriginal Art Exhibition

‘JIEMBA’

‘JIEMBA’ PRONOUNCED “JIM-BA”, means ‘laughing star’ in my Wiradjuri language.

Kay honours her Father and Grandmother through this exhibition platform. Her Father was locally known as ‘Jim’, an abbreviation of his birth name Jiemba.

The purpose of including specific artworks in this exhibition is to continue to encourage recognition and appreciation of this south coast Salt Water Country.

The elements of Earth, Air, Water, Fire and Ether/ Sky-World come together through a range of size, colour combinations. The works have been incorporated into figurative and abstract designs that are supported by the individual stories attached to each artwork.

Kay is a professional artist and proud Wiradjuri Woman of the Cowra Mob – Galari Clan. She is a guest on Dharawal Land of the
Wodi Wodi People.
