Anna Glynn: Amusement

Solo exhibition by renowned Shoalhaven artist, Anna Glynn.

Curator of the exhibition, and local artist herself, Dr Natalie McDonagh, has worked closely with Anna Glynn over four months, enjoying unfettered access to Glynn’s archive of artwork spanning 40 years of prolific, multidisciplinary practice. From this treasure trove, Natalie has selected more than 30 artworks encompassing wall-hanging works—drawing, painting, mixed media, photomontage—video works, sculpture and costume. Natalie says of the exhibition:

“Standing in front of Anna Glynn’s works in this exhibition you may find yourself having an Alice-Through-the-Looking-Glass experience, entering a strange world. It may be unnerving at times but you will be rewarded in ways impossible to predict.”

Natalie has also written and designed an 80 page publication of the same name—Anna Glynn: Amusement—to accompany the exhibition. Her long format essay draws from extended periods spent with Anna in her studio, their long standing association, and extensive formal interviews. Combining the essay with plentiful pictures, the intention of the book is to take the reader on an insightful, guided tour of the world of Anna Glynn.
