About
Exploring the boundaries between what is observed, what is imagined and what is hidden or forgotten is central to my work.
Many of my paintings to date have had a Gothic sensibility and are drawn from 18th and 19th century themes and images found in art, poetry, texts and films. At the moment, I am researching the lives of women and children of European 17th - 19th c and early European Settlement. These works will explore the themes of social structures, ownership, oppression, beauty, adornment, memory, displacement and isolation. They include portraits, figures within interiors, landscape, and seascape, still lifes, animals and nudes.
I do commissioned work and also love painting owls.
I work with oil paint, photography, Photoshop, collage, drawing, mixed media and sculptural assemblage.
