About
I am a ceramic artist based in South Nowra, on the NSW South Coast in the Shoalhaven, working primarily with wheel-thrown forms.
My practice is shaped by an ongoing exploration of ceramic traditions from East Asia, particularly Japan, China and Korea, alongside influences from European and Scandinavian design. I am drawn to the quiet balance, material sensitivity and sense of ritual within these traditions, while using them as a starting point for experimentation rather than replication.
Through forms such as Chinese-inspired teaware and Korean moon jars, I explore how traditional silhouettes can be reinterpreted through my own use of colour, proportion, surface and form. Each piece becomes an opportunity to work between restraint and expression, familiarity and experimentation.
For me, pottery is both a meditative practice and a means of expression. The repetition and physicality of working at the wheel create a space for stillness, while the process of altering, refining and responding to the clay allows intuition and individuality to emerge. My work continues to evolve through this dialogue between tradition, influence and personal expression.
